CCHC Announces EHR Contract with Allscripts
(Hyannis, August 2, 2012) – Cape Cod Healthcare is pleased to announce it has entered into an agreement with Allscripts to implement Allscripts’ industry-leading EHR (electronic health record) solutions throughout CCHC community.
In addition, CCHC has also chosen Allscripts Community Record, powered by dbMotion, to provide the HIE (Health Information Exchange) connectivity platform, enabling physicians and hospitals to share patient records and related clinical information across the CCHC system in real time.
“These agreements are core elements of our ambitious clinical information program,” said Michael Lauf, CCHC’s President and CEO. “Upon implementation, physicians and hospitals in the Cape community will be able to share clinical information on the patients we jointly take care of, right at the point of care.”
This state-of-the art connectivity will enable clinical information to be available quickly, including information from other physicians who took care of a particular patient. Having one patient record can reduce duplicate lab tests and enhance care coordination across multiple providers. Cape Cod Preferred Physicians, the Cape’s 300-plus member physician organization, will be among the major beneficiaries.
“Allscripts Community Record will help enable clinical integration in our community,” added Jeanne Fallon, Cape Cod Healthcare’s Chief Information Officer. “The deployment of an enterprise HIE will connect physicians no matter what EMR they use, which will support the coordination of care.”
“These agreements will also enable us to aggregate clinical information from across the community in order to better understand the healthcare needs of our patients and monitor the effectiveness of the care we provide at a population level,” added Mike Lauf. “It’s another example of how we are working to keep our communities healthier.”
