(Hyannis, MA – November 18, 2020)

Cape Cod Healthcare has announced the reopening of McCarthy Care Center, a 10-bed hospice inpatient facility located at 73 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA.

McCarthy Care Center was included in the transfer of ownership from HopeHealth to Cape Cod Healthcare in 2019 and is part of the hospice services available through the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Cape Cod Hospice. With the reopening of McCarthy Care Center on November 15, 2020, Cape Cod Healthcare now offers hospice patients and their families the option of short-term, acute inpatient care for symptom and pain management.

The center has been newly renovated for aesthetic and regulatory upgrades, preserving the home-like and soothing ambiance of the center. The name, given in honor of Mary E. McCarthy, founder of the first hospice on Cape Cod over thirty years ago, will also remain.

“The reopening of McCarthy Care Center allows us to provide hospice patients and their families with the option of inpatient hospice care in a unique and peaceful setting,” said Michael K. Lauf, president and CEO, Cape Cod Healthcare. “We are honored to continue its legacy of providing this important service to our community.”
