‘Talk and Walk with a Doc’ Concludes Oct. 1
(Hyannis, MA – Sept. 26, 2022) The Healthy Parks, Healthy People three-part wellness initiative continues with a morning event at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham.
The third and final installment of “Talk and Walk with a Doc” will focus on mindfulness and feature a talk followed by a Q&A with Cape Cod Healthcare cardiologist Elissa Thompson, MD. The morning will also include a short trail walk around scenic Nauset Marsh, a brief discussion about the benefits of forest bathing, and a 20-minute mindfulness and meditation session.
“Talk and Walk with a Doc” is an outdoor wellness series at the National Seashore offered as part of the Healthy Parks, Healthy People program, now in its eighth season as a partnership between Cape Cod Healthcare and the Cape Cod National Seashore. The program encourages outdoor exercise and exposure to nature through parks and public lands as a way to maintain good health, featuring the local resources of the trails, facilities, programs and staff of the National Park Service.
Each event has featured short presentations by Dr. Thompson, a ranger and other experts focused on parks as the cornerstones for human and environmental health, specifically relating the health benefits of time spent in nature. Previous events highlighted the cardiovascular benefits of outdoor exercise and plant-based nutrition.
“Talk and Walk with a Doc” is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. For more information, visit www.capecodhealth.org/healthyparks
