William Agel, MD, MPH

Chief Medical Officer for Cape Cod Hospital and Cape Cod Healthcare

William Agel, MD, MPH was named chief medical officer for Cape Cod Hospital and Cape Cod Healthcare in 2020.

Dr. Agel has specialized in obstetrics and gynecology for more than thirty years, and has practiced at Cape Cod Healthcare since 1999 as medical director of Cape Cod Hospital OB/GYN. He serves on the board of trustees for Cape Cod Healthcare and is the acting president of the Cape Cod Preferred Physician network.

Dr. Agel held several leadership roles across Cape Cod Healthcare, including chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Cape Cod Hospital, and vice-chief and chief of staff at Cape Cod Hospital. He has also served as clinical assistant professor of OB/GYN at the UMASS Medical School.  

Prior to joining Cape Cod Healthcare, Dr. Agel served as director of OB/GYN at the Tri-River Family Health Center in Uxbridge, MA. He earned a master’s degree in public health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and his degree in medicine at the New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ.
