Certified Nursing Assistant Program

Interested in starting a career in nursing, whether recently graduated or seeking a rewarding career change? 

Cape Cod Healthcare is pleased to offer a new Certified Nursing Assistant Program to create opportunities for entry-level nursing assistants at Cape Cod Hospital (CCH) and Falmouth Hospital (FH). This program is designed to welcome interested candidates to fill a CCH Nursing Assistant II (NAII) or FH Patient Service Assistant (PSA) position prior to completing a Certified Nursing Assistant classroom program with a local institution. Tuition will be fully covered by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) / Training and Upgrading Fund (TUF), leaving participants with virtually zero out-of-pocket expenses.

How it Works

  • Trainee positions include working on a Medical/Surgical floor at Cape Cod Hospital or Falmouth Hospital.
  • Candidates will apply into a desired shift. Days, evenings and nights are available.
  • Once hired, the apprentice will train on the day shift for approximately six weeks. Apprentices will transition into the shift they were hired into after training and certification testing are complete.
  • Apprentices are regular employees and will be considered probationary employees until the individual successfully completes this program and moves into a regular NA II/PSA Position. Apprentices must successfully complete program within six months of hire into trainee position, unless alternative arrangements have been approved by management.
  • Apprentices who successfully complete the NA II/PSA Apprenticeship Program will transition into a regular NA II or PSA position and must stay in the position for 24 months.

What’s Included

  • Classroom curriculum with an accredited Nursing Assistant Program. (i.e., Cape Cod Community College, Curry College and Upper Cape Technical).
  • On-the-job training.
  • At CCH, upon completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant Program, incumbent will transfer into the NAII Grade S7 position.
  • At FH, upon completion of the PSA Registered Apprenticeship Program, incumbent will transfer into the PSA Grade 5A position.
  • BLS training and certification during the Apprenticeship Program.
