Inpatient Psychiatric Program
The Centers for Behavioral Health inpatient treatment program is a 24 hour multidisciplinary, trauma-informed, patient-centered program. We provide the latest evidenced based treatment interventions to individuals presenting with serious mental health symptoms and persons with a psychiatric disorder and co-occurring substance use disorder. The program is a safe place for individuals at imminent risk to themselves or others due to a mental health diagnosis to receive treatment until ready for discharge.

What to expect
Our inpatient level of care is a 20 bed secure adult unit with an average length of stay of 5-7 days. This unit offers assessment, stabilization, intensive treatment and discharge planning for those patients experiencing acute mental illness. The safe, stable, controlled environment of the unit allows the staff to provide supportive medication management, behavioral interventions and education regarding illness and symptom management.
Treatment Approach
Upon admission to the program a variety of evaluations are completed by the treatment team. These enable the team, in collaboration with the patient, to develop a comprehensive and collaborative treatment plan. The plan is designed to assist the patient in their recovery process and alleviate serious symptoms that interfere with their safety and function. Medication, education, group therapies and therapeutic activities all within a therapeutic milieu create a safe place to build the foundation for ongoing recovery.
Case management services also play a critical role in ensuring the development of a treatment plan that includes patient goals while receiving treatment as well as a comprehensive aftercare and discharge plan once patients are stabilized. The aftercare/discharge plan ensures follow-up treatment is continued in or at a less restrictive/intensive level of care.

Clinical Program
A robust group program is provided by the clinical team to address the diverse, ever changing, unique needs of each patient. The overall treatment philosophy supports patient self-determination and informed choice. A varied menu of techniques, modalities, tools and skills are included in group programs making them the best fit for the group being served. Educational presentations are an integral part of the program with a focus on self-regulation and safety, advocacy and ways to develop resilience. Personal safety plans establish a structure for each patient.
Therapeutic activities are offered regularly, each evening. These activities are chosen by the patient community and provide time to observe and assess skills and symptoms in a more relaxed environment.
