Interventional Cardiology
Your heart condition may be treatable with an interventional cardiology procedure. Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that uses catheters (thin, flexible tubes) to diagnose and repair damaged vessels and other heart structures, often eliminating the need for surgery. An integral part of our Heart Team, our interventional cardiologists are experts in treating heart attacks and other cardiac conditions. They work in close tandem with our team of interventional radiologists to diagnose and treat patients using the least invasive techniques available.
The Cape Cod Healthcare interventional cardiology program has earned wide recognition for our door-to-balloon times (the time between when you enter the hospital to the time a lifesaving cardiac balloon is inflated in your artery through a percutaneous coronary intervention), and low readmission rates for stent patients. Interventional cardiology is an important part of the multidisciplinary team approach offered by our structural heart services.
Our outcomes consistently surpass American College of Cardiology guidelines, which means we not only save lives, but minimize damage to the heart muscle and preserve quality of life after a heart attack.
