Community Health Outreach and Screenings

The public health and wellness department of the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) of Cape Cod provides many additional programs that typically take place outside the home. As part of town nursing across the Cape, these include:

Community outreach through the Cape Cod Healthcare Cancer Committee

Each calendar year, the Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital Cancer Committee outreach coordinators organize and offer cancer prevention and cancer screening programs. Each program is consistent with evidence-based national guidelines and has a formal process to follow up on all positive findings.

Examples of some of these programs are:

  • Breast Cancer Awareness Month – free mammogram screening program and community open house events at Cuda Women’s Health Center in Hyannis and Seifer Women’s Health and Imaging Center in Falmouth
  • Enterprising Women and Ladies Night Out events
  • Oral Cancer Screening with CCH Speech Pathologists - Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game
  • Women’s Cancer Awareness Run 4 Your Life event
  • Cervical Cancer Awareness and Prevention - Team Maureen 
  • Lung Cancer Screening – Primary Care Physician outreach and education
  • Prostate Cancer Screening and Prevention – Primary Care Physician education / Radio presentation for community
